If water drips onto the same spot for long enough, even the hardest granite will eventually give way. The latest water jet cutting system from stone4you also uses this method. However, thanks to a high-pressure pump and computer control, the water jet, which is only 2 millimetres thick, is faster, even much faster than Mother Nature.<\/p>\n

Since November 2020, your stone professionals from Hollabrunn have been using abrasive jet cutting. An unwieldy word for a very versatile technology. We not only cut high-quality natural stone, but also ceramic slabs, stainless steel, aluminum and even glass. In addition to fine inlays and marquetry, we also produce round and bevel cuts in small and large formats. The finest corners and radii of just a few millimetres are no longer a problem. The mitre edges that are popular for creating a solid look in kitchens or washbasins can also be produced with precision.<\/p>\n

Invented by gold prospectors<\/h3>\n

When Californian gold prospectors came up with the idea of using a water jet to separate gold veins from sand and rock in 1870, nobody could have imagined that this mining technology would one day be used to cut steel, glass, textiles and even pizza. At first glance, the process seems simple: water is forced through a tiny nozzle under extremely high pressure and releases small particles when it hits the stone slab. To ensure that even hard materials such as stone can be cut, a fine, sharp-edged sand - usually made of garnet - is added, the so-called abrasive. Below the cut, a water basin slows down the energy of the jet. The fine abrasive and the removed stone particles settle to the bottom, are separated from the water and disposed of. The water is purified and reused in our closed water circuit.<\/p>\n

Our Easyline 2040 system works with a cutting pressure of around 4200 bar. This pressure corresponds to a water column an incredible 40 kilometers high! For comparison: the highest mountain on earth, Mount Everest, is 8.8 kilometers high and the greatest measured water depth in the oceans is around eleven kilometers. Because generating the high water pressure consumes the most energy, we opted for a purely electric pump instead of a conventional hydraulic pump for ecological reasons. This not only makes the natural stone material itself particularly environmentally friendly, but also the processing.<\/p>\n

Three letters, many possibilities<\/h3>\n

The computer is responsible for controlling the nozzle, which guides the nozzle over the stone with the utmost precision according to the programmed cutting pattern. CNC is the magic word here. The abbreviation stands for \"Computerized Numerical Control\". We design a kitchen worktop, washbasin, floor covering or other project on the computer screen and one of our computer-controlled saws carries out the necessary cuts, drill holes or edge processing automatically and with the utmost precision.<\/p>\n

The result is much more precise than would be possible with hand-guided machines. At the same time, it protects the health of our employees by relieving them of physically demanding tasks.
